We have divided popular antivirus into three groups: “antivirus programs compatible with Windows 7”, “antivirus software not compatible with Windows 7 release” and “antivirus programs compatible with Windows Seven but which do not work stable with it”. Antivirus software compatible with Windows 7:

• First of all we recommend you free antivirus download for Windows 7 which is known as AVG Free. This programs suites Windows Seven completely and we have also tested it – no problems with AVG Free have been detected.
• Avira Antivir is number two in our antivirus software review. It has found all viruses during our test and it works ok with Windows 7 built 7105, 7106, 7107.
• Kaspersky antivirus is recommended to be used as a main antivirus program for Windows 7 by Microsoft Corporation.
• NOD 32 Beta 4 can be also used a Trojan remover for Windows 7. It also kills all viruses according to its up-to-date database.
• PCGuard Anti-Virus for Windows Seven is also a good choice to protect your system form virises.
• Another antivirus program that suites Win 7 is Microsoft Forefront Client Security.
• COMODO managed to find all viruses during our test and it is fully compatible with Windows 7.
• And the last antivirus which takes part in our antivirus software review for Win 7 is Dr.Web Desktop Security Suite. It has also high results.

Antivirus programs not compatible with Windows 7:

• Windows Live One Care doesnot recognize Win 7.
• McAfee Virus Scan and McAfee Total Protection do not suite Windows 7.
• Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 is not compatible with Microsoft New Operating System. In our test it refused to work with Windows Seven.

Antivirus software compatible with Windows Seven but which does not work stable with it:

• Avast antivirus. It has some problems with compatibility with Windows 7 but it can be used with this operating system. We recommend you to visit Avast antivirus forum and read the thread “Avast Windows 7 compatibility: will avast run on Windows 7?”
• Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus. Though Norton 360 is listed by Microsoft as a recommended antivirus for Windows 7 we think that it is not a good idea to use Norton Antivirus Software for this operating system.

Microsoft recommends to use Kaspersky antivirus, AVG or Norton 360 which are proved to be compatible with their new operating system. Do not forget that you can also use free online virus scanners which we have tested during one of our antivirus reviews.
