Result: McAffe VirusScan Mobile is a good antivirus for nokia mobiles but it has a few disadvantages.

This is a world wide known antivirus program developed by Symantec and its main difference from antivirus software reviewed above is its time of antivirus scanning. And a firewall module is also included to this program but it not clear for us why they have decided to do it. Frankly speaking it could be more effective if they made the same for SMS and MMS messages. Symantec Mobile Antivirus passed our virus test successfully but the time of virus scanning was too long. When you try to open an infected file there appears an alarm window and you can easily block it or delete.

Result: Symantec Mobile Antivirus is a very slow antivirus software for mobile phones it is fully compatible with all nokia mobiles but you will have to wait for more than half an hour to scam your phone or smart phone for viruses.

Antivirus programs not compatible with Windows 7:

• Windows Live One Care doesnot recognize Win 7.
• McAfee Virus Scan and McAfee Total Protection do not suite Windows 7.
• Trend Micro Internet Security 2009 is not compatible with Microsoft New Operating System. In our test it refused to work with Windows Seven.

Antivirus software compatible with Windows Seven but which does not work stable with it:

• Avast antivirus. It has some problems with compatibility with Windows 7 but it can be used with this operating system. We recommend you to visit Avast antivirus forum and read the thread “Avast Windows 7 compatibility: will avast run on Windows 7?”
• Norton Internet Security and Norton AntiVirus. Though Norton 360 is listed by Microsoft as a recommended antivirus for Windows 7 we think that it is not a good idea to use Norton Antivirus Software for this operating system.

Microsoft recommends to use Kaspersky antivirus, AVG or Norton 360 which are proved to be compatible with their new operating system. Do not forget that you can also use free online virus scanners which we have tested during one of our antivirus reviews.

Before starting this review I should mention that all listed below online antivirus scanners use Microsoft ActiveX and tested to work with Internet Explorer. If you use Firefox or Opera you’d better install this plagin http://www.meadco.com/neptune/ which will help your browser to work correctly with these online antivirus applications.

The fist online anitivirus is Panda Nanoscan

Panda Nanoscan is an antivirus scanner without any manual settings. It starts a scanning module (400 kb) and scans your system for about one minute. After scanning you will see the verdict of Panda Nanoscan right on the screen without any delay. But you will get no scanning report or any settings.

If Panda Nanoscan find an infected object it won’t do anything to cure it. It will advice you to use TotalScan antivirus to deal with this problem. TotalScan is also an online antivirus.

The second online antivirus program is BitDefender Online Scanner
This online antivirus scanner is available here http://bitdefender.com

It is one of the best antivirus tools which can cure infected files, it makes detailed reports and it can scan system boot disk sectors. The only thing you should know that this programs sends reports to its developers but they promise that it is done to make their antivirus base up-to-date and no personal information is stored.
The eighth version of online antivirus scanner BitDefender has a new interface, it can work now with proxy servers and it is more user-friendly. The developers made the program more secure and now you can uninstall it easily (just go to the menu Tools in your Internet Explorer). So I can say for sure that developers do their bets to make the work with this program more comfortable for their clients.

Let’s continue with eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner

This online web scanner works without any problems in Internet Explorer. It can easily find infected objects and cure them. But there is no settings for this online antivirus and the user can only choose the disk for scanning, delete infected files or send them to antivirus laboratory where they will be analyzed by specialists. There is no need to worry about the antivirus base as eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner will update it automatically.
But I can not say that this antivirus program is trusty. When I tested it, eTrust Antivirus Web Scanner ignored a file with Trojan. Of course, any program can make a mistake but it is not a good thing when your antivirus program do not find viruses which can kill your file system.

Another antivirus scanner in my review is Symantec Virus Detection
This online antivirus scanner is available here http://security.symantec.com

As you can guess from the name of this program it can only detect infected files and it is impossible for Symantec Virus Detection to cure them. There is also no setting for this online version and it scans all disks automatically. This process lasts very long and you should be ready to wait.
On the screenshot above there is Security Scan module. This module launches an Internet-service which can audit your computer for brittleness which can be used to hack your computer. Security Scan is not the worst online tool who wants to protect your PC form viruses, Trojans and spyware programs.

McAfee FreeScan is a very popular online antivirus program.
This online antivirus scanner is available here http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp

The main advantage of using this online scanner is that it is based in the popular antivirus platform known as McAfee VirusScan. There is no setting for the online version and you can choose only disk C:, folder My Documents or Windows system directory for scanning.

McAfee web scanner can not cure infected files but it will provide you with detailed information about virus characteristics and advice you to use McAfee commercial products to cure detected viruses and spyware programs.

PCPitstop Virus Scanner is the other online web scanner to protect your computer

If you manage to handle PCPitstop Virus Scanner it will be easy to find these three buttons: Quick Scan, Full Scan и Custom Scan. The first one is used to start a quick scan with a detailed analysis of running system processes, system Windows files and “My Documents” folder. The second button will scan your dick C: for viruses and Trojans. And at last the third button makes you to choose any other disk or directory for complete online virus scan. So as you can see PCPitstop Virus Scanner interface is rather simple but this antivirus application is effective.

You can use Freedom Online Virus Check to find harmful viruses online

It is one more online antivirus application which is developed by South-Korean IT company AhnLab. It works only as a browser antivirus and updates its antivirus babes every time when it is launched. MyV3 scans boot sectors, checks memory, archives and files. This antivirus program also creates a copy of an infected file in the protected folder “Quarantine”. MyV3 can be run in Windows and Internet Explorer.

Use Trend Micro HouseCall to find Trojans online

Trend Micro HouseCall find infected files and allows to check your system (Windows, Linux and Solaris) to find possible backdoors for hackers. This online antivirus application also works with Mozilla Firefox and it’s really a great advantage in comparison with other online antivirus programs mentioned above.

There are three stages of using this scanner. At first you are to choose a sector of scanning and program settings. After that Trend Micro HouseCall some time to check your computer for viruses and on the last stage you will find detailed reports and further instructions how to deal with your situation.

During a telephone conference with reporters yesterday, outgoing Microsoft co-president Jim Allchin, while touting the new security features of Windows Vista, which was released to manufacturing yesterday, told a reporter that the system’s new lockdown features are so capable and thorough that he was comfortable with his own seven-year-old son using Vista without antivirus software installed.

Allchin’s statement came in response to a question about his relative level of confidence that Vista would be more secure than Windows XP SP2. In response, he noted there were key security features added to Vista which could not be added to Windows XP SP2 even though, he said, his people apparently tried to do so.

Two such features — namely Vista’s new parental controls, and Address Space Layout Randomization (ASLR), which renders the object code of the system kernel in memory differently each time to thwart the designs of malicious code — render his son’s Vista machine comfortable enough for him to use, even though production-quality anti-virus software for the unit has yet to be completed.

“I would say that Windows XP SP2 did an amazing job, and I’m proud of what we did there. But you have to understand, we learned a lot during Windows XP SP2, and there were things that we couldn’t put in that product,” explained Allchin.

“I’ll give you an example: It’s my favorite feature within Windows Vista, it’s called ASLR (Address Space [Layout] Randomization). What it does is, each Windows Vista machine is slightly different than every other Windows Vista machine. So even if there is a remote exploit on one machine, and a worm tries to jump from one machine to another, the probability of that actually succeeding is very small. And I wanted to do this in Windows XP SP2, but we couldn’t figure out how to do it. So then a smart guy here came up with a solution, so we put it in Windows Vista.”

After summarizing that past statement, Allchin continued, “Please don’t misunderstand me: This is an escalating situation. The hackers are getting smarter, there’s more at stake, and so there’s just no way for us to say that some perfection has been achieved. But I can say, knowing what I know now, I feel very confident.”

“I’ll give you an example: My son, seven years old, runs Windows Vista, and, honestly, he doesn’t have an antivirus system on his machine. His machine is locked down with parental controls, he can’t download things unless it’s to the places that I’ve said that he could do, and I’m feeling totally confident about that,” he added. “That is quite a statement. I couldn’t say that in Windows XP SP2.”

Allchin led up to that comment after having recalled the company’s Defense-in-Depth program, which emerged in 2004 as a way to assist software in defending specifically against viruses, but which evolved into a comprehensive anti-malware campaign.

As a result of Defense-in-Depth, Allchin told the reporter, Service Pack 2 of Windows XP made it substantially more difficult for malware to get to the kernel.

“So we’ve just put up one barrier after another,” he said, “so that the end result is, in the percentages, when I look at the number of bulletins that we’ve produced over a period of time for Windows XP SP2, and I look at what I would expect to take place in terms of, not just the number, but probably more important, the severity for Windows Vista, we have been doing measurements of that all along, and it’s my opinion that the severity of the bulletins will be less, as well as the number will be less.

“That’s to be proven, so we will see about that. But I need to say the following: Windows Vista is something that will have issues in security, because the bar is being raised over time,” Allchin continued. “But in my opinion, it is the most secure system that’s available, and it’s certainly the most secure system that we’ve shipped. So I feel very confident that customers are far better off by using Windows Vista than they are with anything that we’ve released before.”

ASLR would apparently have been a component of Defense-in-Depth, based on Allchin’s comments, had it been compatible with the existing architecture of Windows XP. In fact, ASLR may help substantiate the need for such features as PatchGuard, which is designed to draw a kind of “moat” around the kernel of the operating system, rendering it inaccessible accept through authenticated communications.

But the evolution of the Defense-in-Depth program, he implied, may have evolved its implementation in Vista beyond the need for the generation of antivirus protection that was its original impetus.

WinReanimator Automatic Removal Instructions

This automatic removal method is for non-techie computer users. If you’re too lazy to learn about spyware removal or how to access sensitive files in your computer, then this is the method for you.
Before you start: Print or bookmark these instructions because you’ll have to reboot into Safe Mode. Also back up your computer in case you make a mistake.

1. Download and save SmitFraudFix to your desktop.
2. Restart your computer in Safe Mode (how to do safe mode). Once the
desktop appears, double click on the SmitfraudFix.exe on your desktop.
3. After the credits screen, you’ll see a menu. Select the option number 2, which is ‘Clean (safe mode recommended)’, and then
press Enter to delete infect files.
4. SmitFraudFix will begin cleaning your computer and take a series of cleanup processes. When the process is over, it will automatically begin the Disk Cleanup program.
5. Once the Disk Cleanup program is complete, you will be prompted with the message ‘Registry cleaning – Do you want to clean the registry’. Answer Y (Yes) and hit Enter. Reboot your computer.
6. SmitFraudFix will now check if wininet.dll is infected. SmitFraudFix will ask you whether to replace the infected file (if there’s any) ‘Replace infected
file?’ Answer by typing Y (Yes) and hit Enter.
7. Reboot your computer to complete the cleaning process.
8. After reboot, a Notepad screen may appear containing a log of all the files
removed from your computer. If it doesn’t appear, a file will be created called
rapport.txt in the root of your drive, (Local Disk C:).
9. Restart your computer in Safe Mode (how to do safe mode).
10. Go to C:\Windows\Temp, click Edit, click Select All, press DELETE, and then
click Yes to confirm that you want all the items to go to the Recycle Bin.

11. Go to C:\Documents and Settings\[LISTED USER]\Local Settings\Temp, click Edit, click Select All, press DELETE, and then click Yes to confirm that
you want all the items to go to the Recycle Bin.
12. Reboot your computer back to normal mode. Go to Windows Update and download all critical updates.

WinReanimator Manual Removal Instructions

This manual removal method is for techie computer users. WinReanimator manual removal may be difficult and time consuming to remove. There’s no guarantee that WinReanimator will be removed completely. So read the WinReanimator removal steps carefully and good luck.
Before you start: Close all programs and Internet browsers. Also back up your computer in case you make a mistake and your computer stops working.

1. Uninstall WinReanimator Program
Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel > Double-click on Add/Remove Programs. Search for and uninstall WinReanimator if found.
2. To stop WinReanimator processes (view process removal steps)
Go to Start > Run > type taskmgr. The click the Processes tab and you’ll see a list of running processes.
Search and stop these WinReanimator processes:

To locate the WinReanimator DLL path, go to Start > Search > All Files or Folders. Type WinReanimator and in the Look in: select either My Computer or Local Hard Drives. Click the Search button.
Once you have the WinReanimator DLL path, go to Start and then click on Run. In the Run command box, type cmd, and then click on OK.
To locate the exact DLL path, type cd in order to change the current directory. To display the contents of the directory, use the dir command. To remove the DLL file type regsvr32 /u FILENAME.dll (FILENAME is the name of the file that you want to unregister).
4. To unregister WinReanimator registry keys (view registry keys removal steps)
Go to Start > Run > type regedit > press OK.
Edit the value (on the right pane) by right-clicking on it and selecting the Modify option. Select the Delete option.
Search and delete these WinReanimator registry keys:

6. Remove WinReanimator Directories.
To find WinReanimator directories, go to Start > My Computer > Local Disk (C:) > Program Files > Show the contents of this folder.
Search and delete the following WinReanimator directories:
C:\ProgramFiles\WinReanimator
*% ProgramFiles%\WinReanimator
UserProfile *%%\Local Settings\Temp\Binaries1.zip
UserProfile *%%\Local Settings\Temp\Binaries2.zip

Right-click on the WinReanimator folder and select Delete.
A message will appear saying ‘Are you sure you want to remove the folder [NAME OF FOLDER] and move all its contents to the Recycle Bin?’, click Yes.
Another message will appear saying ‘Renaming, moving or deleting [FOLDERNAME] could make some programs not work. Are you sure you want to do this?’, click Yes.
7. To remove WinReanimator icons on your Desktop, drag and drop them to the Recycle Bin.
