Review of Nikon 1 Mirroless Cameras: Nikon 1 J1 and Nikon 1 V1

Nikon has announced a new photosystem Nikon 1 with two mirroless cameras Nikon 1 J1 and Nikon 1 V1. These cameras are positioned by Nikon as revolutionary cameras that can change the world of photography. In this review we will try to understand what innovative features Nikon 1 J1 and V1 have and if these cameras are really good in photography.

So let’s define the difference between Nikon 1 J1 and Nikon 1 V1. First of all we can see the difference visually. Nikon 1 J1 size is smaller in comparison with Nikon 1 V1 and V1 has an electronic view-finder. The other difference is an inbuilt flash for Nikon 1 J1.

When we compare Nikon 1 cameras with competitors we should mention about their speed. Nikon 1 V1 and Nikon 1 J1 are really very fast you can use them shooting fast moving objects as their AF is really great auto focus works fast in any situation. The other option is a new mode named as Motion Snapshot. When you use Motion Snapshot mode you get 1 second video which can be used to show the moving object. The other interesting shooting mode for Nikon 1 cameras is Smart Photo Selector. When you press shutter release button Nikon 1 camera will make 20 photos and then it will choose 5 best shots which you can look through live view and choose the best one or you can agree with the choice of your camera. This mode is great when you want to be sure to get a good quality photo.

Speaking about a video mode for Nikon 1 J1 and Nikon 1 V1 we should stress that these mirroless cameras with interchangeable lenses can record Full HD video as a professional video camera. We have tested Nikon 1 in different situations and can state for sure that the produced video is of the highest quality.
